new projects and interests

This year I was able to get my two mustangs from my grandpa's place in Yakima. One is a Mach 1 the other is a sportsroof but for parts. The Mach 1 has been in project stage since I was about 5. My cousin stripped it down and unfortunately took a cutting torch to parts of it. but it's there and although it needs some body work it shouldn't be too difficult to get on the road. The car was originally equipped with a 351 Cleveland 4V with a c6 trans. haven't gotten underneath to confirm the trans but less than 10000 miles before my grandpa picked up the transmission was rebuilt. in 1983. a reseal is probably gonna be in order. The engine however is a 351 Windsor 2v according to the air cleaner, it's out of a mercury. I haven't had enough time to devote to see if or how well it runs. If it's trashed, I'd probably consider a Fuel injection swap because I like fuel injection. it's a tough decision becase on one hand I like to keep things original, but on the other hand, as I grow older I've come to find I prefer modern automotive technology. It has Lime green interior which is not available reproduction (thank goodness) but I plan eventually redoing the interior with the 2 tone blue and white seats from the 72 Olympic Sprint. The covers are available reproduction. I've been wanting to bring these cars home since I moved to Oregon. At this point, I really just want to get it back on the road looking nice and driving. I live 5 minutes from work and in my 01 Bonneville I get 15 MPG or less. if I'm gonna get that low of mileage driving that short of distance, I want to do it in style. quite a few people don't like the big mustangs. I do. and although not as much as 65-70 parts are plentiful.

I also have another project in the works. a 1960s seaswirl 15 foot boat. It came with the trailer, a 50 HP outboard, and a 6 HP outboard. the decking and hull are in good shape. the seats are shot but a friend of my grandpas had some seats he was getting rid of. they are in good shape but the color could be better. but it saves me almost 500 bucks so I'm happy. I'm waiting on getting the cable for the steering. also need a deep cycle battery so I can test out the motor. a 50 horse will definatly get that boat moving.

Another interest I have picked up is Laserdiscs. They are the vinyl of video. I always wanted a laserdisc player since I was a kid after seeing them at school. every time I saw them for sale they were either broken or they wanted way way more than I was willing to pay. I went to a thrift store and found one that was hooked up to a tv that worked for only 10 bucks. I couldn't pass it up. I got 2 discs at that time. Then on a trip to Cali over thanksgiving, I used my birthday money and bought a stack of laserdiscs. then, I got connected with a guy up in Tigard that If I weren't me, I would swear he was me. He has a garage almost as big as my house that is completely full of laserdiscs. He's been buying since before I was born. I'm now up to over 20 discs. It's fun.
